Solo Spotlight

Applications for Solo Spotlight 2025 are now closed.

Soloist selection will be based on playing standard as well as a number of other criteria such as balanced programming, a variety of instruments, music availability and music sourcing costs.

Conditions of entry:

• If selected to perform with the orchestra, applicants must be available for rehearsals with the orchestra from the evening of Wednesday 10 September through to Friday 12 September and again on Saturday morning 13 September.
• A recording of the soloist playing their selected aria or concerto movement (accompaniment not required) must be included with the completed application form. mp3 is the preferred format.
• The music selected must be out of copyright and available in New Zealand.
• The soloists give permission for the NSO to record an audio/video of the concert and to livestream the concert. The NSO shall possess ownership of the recording and maintain the right to use it for public promotion.
• All travel and accommodation are at the applicant’s expense.
