This concert, conducted by Peter Scholes who is a well- known clarinetist , composer , conductor and musical director of the long established Auckland Chamber Orchestra, presents a “Beyond the Horizon” programme.
It is a celebration of recent discovery, especially the James Webb telescope, and illustrated in orchestral sound by New Zealand composer Sarah Ballard’s work Nebula.
Elgar’s famous Concerto for Cello will be performed by the highly talented Catherine Kwak who performed as soloist last year in Nelson with the New Zealand Doctor’s Orchestra.
After the interval Peter Scholes will conduct Sibelius’s effervescent Symphony no 3.
